Insulin resistant individuals can lose weight just as effectively as those who are not insulin resistant. Claims about insulin resistance preventing weight loss are unfounded and lack supporting data. The idea that weight loss with insulin resistance necessitates a low-carb diet is also baseless. To combat insulin resistance, engaging in weight training at least two days per week, high-intensity interval training once a week, and longer duration lower intensity exercises like walking or jogging are key.
