Audible and Amazon have potentially restricted independent media outlets, but Audible ensures payment to authors. To liberate audiobooks from Audible's DRM, the app called libation can help in downloading files in DRM-free formats like MP3 or AAX. For iOS users, the app Prologue can create a self-hosted audible clone. This process respects the purchased books and supports authors, ensuring no piracy. By self-hosting audiobooks, the risk of changes in Audible's terms affecting access to purchased books is mitigated, providing a personalized and secure listening experience.
Alex Kretzschmar joins Adam to discuss their experiences with building the “perfect media server” and all the hardware and software involved to make it happen — LinuxServer.io, PerfectMediaServer.com, Plex, Jellyfin, ZFS, mergerfs, TrueNAS, Docker Compose and so much more in this episode.
