Tokenization is perceived as a threat to traditional equities and bonds, but it is actually transforming them. The nomenclature and origins of the crypto domain, along with early associations with illicit activities, have contributed to a negative perception. Traditional finance professionals struggle to value assets in the crypto space as they are accustomed to modeling well-researched asset classes with established value drivers. The concept of the network itself being the value is a new one, diverging from traditional asset analysis. Tokenomics introduces a new type of analysis that lacks standardization, requiring a significant commitment to understand. Explaining new asset classes and the distinction between platform networks and protocol networks adds another layer of complexity for those accustomed to traditional finance.

What’s Franklin Templeton? It’s an investment management company (think mutual funds, ETFs) that manages over $1.5 Trillion in assets.
