Importance of Protein Timing and Distribution in Muscle Function
Slowing down the myofibular protein part without effectively stopping it is seen as an energy conservation measure by the muscle, indicating a self-preservation mechanism. Research suggests that the digestion rate of proteins, especially slower digesting ones like casein, influences muscle protein synthesis patterns. The distribution of protein intake throughout the day is crucial, with emphasis on protein per meal and per day. While research mainly focuses on the first and last meals, the significance of the middle meal remains largely unexplored. An uneven protein distribution pattern, such as having 45 grams at breakfast, 60 grams at dinner, and 20 grams at lunch, is considered beneficial for muscle function.
