NOTE

How to Choose the Right Resistance Training Exercise

To get the best muscle response, aim for the highest stretch during training. A muscle fiber hanging vertically and stretched will grow. Isometric exercises should be done at the end range of motion for maximum tightness. The position of the joint affects muscle contraction, with single joint muscles like soleus only requiring ankle positioning and multi-joint muscles like gastroc requiring both ankle and knee extension. This means that standing calf raises work both gastroc and soleus, while seated calf raises only work soleus.
