Coffee: Antioxidant Powerhouse, Not Caffeine Catalyst

Caffeine is often misunderstood in the context of its health benefits, as the true value of coffee lies not in caffeine itself but in its high antioxidant content. Many individuals fall short in their antioxidant intake due to inadequate consumption of whole foods, leading them to rely heavily on coffee to meet their needs. Consequently, the perceived health benefits associated with coffee consumption are largely the result of these antioxidants rather than caffeine. Notably, decaffeinated coffee also presents similar health advantages, further supporting this distinction. Therefore, it is advisable to enjoy coffee in moderation—around three cups per day—and to limit consumption according to individual caffeine metabolism, ideally stopping about ten hours before sleep to minimize sleep disruption.
