Socrates tried to get closer to certainty by arguing with people all day long, while Dechart tried to figure out what we can know for certain by working alone./nAfter thinkers became pessimistic about the possibility of arriving at certainty, they started to critique the way things had typically been done./nThere were several different paths forward that emerged as a result of this critique, including the logical positivists and the phenomenologists.
