How the Working Class Became America’s Second Class

Honestly with Bari Weiss

NOTE

Exploring the Layers of the American Working Class

The American working class can be divided into three tiers - the top tier characterized by a middle-class life with homeownership and planned retirement, the middle tier comprising individuals who can cover bills but lack savings, retirement, and face healthcare struggles, and the bottom tier where people work tirelessly but struggle to achieve stability and face various hardships. Despite the differences in these tiers, a common thread among the working class is a deep love for work, viewing it as an inheritance and a core part of American identity. Unlike the political approaches of the GOP or the left, the working class is not in favor of welfare programs and support, preferring to rely on their hard work to achieve a modest and stable life.
