Sunk cost bias can lead individuals to stick with their current path due to the fear of short-term costs and reluctance to embrace new options. Therefore, if uncertain about quitting a job, it is advisable to quit according to a randomized study by Stephen Levitt. The study involved participants who were uncertain about making significant life changes, and those who remained undecided were given the chance to flip a coin to make the decision. The study revealed that individuals who made a change experienced an increase of 2.2 points in happiness out of ten, indicating that quitting when uncertain can lead to enhanced happiness.
