How to Make Better Decisions
In order to solve problems more efficiently, we're implementing an artificial environment constraint by splitting a one-hour meeting into two half-hour meetings on different days. In the first meeting, we gather input to ensure we're addressing the correct problem. The next day, the decision maker outlines the problem and we begin generating solutions. This approach prevents us from derailing, allows for input from everyone involved, reduces blind spots, and improves decision-making. Another helpful technique is using automatic rules to catch ourselves when we're veering off track or negotiating internally.
