Maoism was sterilized after the death of mau, says Tom. The party tried to preserve his carismatic quality as a leader by trying to cover it up. But that wasn't what post-mow party wanted to hear. They did come up with a resolution through the party that grudgingly admitted blame and put some of the blame on mow.
