A group of colleagues created an exercise called the reflected best self portrait to help people identify their hidden potential by asking others to tell a story about them at their best. By recognizing patterns in the collected stories, individuals can compose a self portrait of themselves at their best, often discovering strengths they were previously unaware of. This exercise can be a life changing experience and can be used to help others see their hidden potential. The speaker also shared a meaningful experience of writing emails to people about a time when they were at their best, which was greatly appreciated and considered a meaningful act of friendship or an investment in a relationship.
Psychologist Adam Grant stops by to talk with Maya about his new book "Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things." They talk about how to filter out unhelpful feedback, the benefits of imperfectionism, and why we need to give soft skills more respect.
