Longing as Prayer

Prayer, as described by Pope Benedict, the Fathers of the Church, and St. Augustine, is essentially becoming a longing for God. St. Augustine suggested that longing itself is a form of prayer, implying that constant desire for God translates to constant prayer. Being in touch with this deep ache can be challenging, as people often numb or distract themselves from it due to the pain it brings.
