Efficient Blockchain Transactions through Roll-Ups
The concept of ZK roll-ups involves compressing transactions before storing them on the blockchain, reducing the amount of data and computation required on-chain. By utilizing off-chain games such as optimistic games or ZK snarks to prove the accuracy of computations, the majority of the work is shifted off-chain. This approach increases scalability by a factor of about 100, with only a small portion of data and computation remaining on-chain. Applications like loop ring already demonstrate the effectiveness of ZK roll-ups in reducing transaction fees while maintaining asset transfer capabilities.
