Understanding Reactive Arthritis

Reactive arthritis is part of the spondyloarthritis spectrum and is linked to HLA B27. It can be triggered by various infections like chlamydia and gonorrhea and is characterized by oligoarthritis, enthesitis, sacroiliitis, and uveitis. It is a diagnosis of exclusion, excluding conditions like septic arthritis. Treatment involves NSAIDs and addressing any associated infections. Prior damage to a structure, such as a joint, makes it more susceptible to infection, a principle applicable to various diseases.
