Delayed Uranium Production in Kazakhstan
The method of mining uranium in Kazakhstan involves using ISR mines, which require drilling a series of wells and impregnating the underground ore body with sulfuric acid. It takes about eight months from the time of drilling the wells to the actual production of uranium, as the sulfuric acid needs time to interact with the uranium.
