Encourage your kids to do hypothesis testing

Encourage your kids to come up with their own ideas and test them. When they ask how something works, ask them what they think and then challenge them to come up with another idea. Teach them how to test those ideas and distinguish between them. This helps develop critical thinking skills and independence from dogma or relying solely on what others tell them.
