effective altruism in general, is often about bringing what's out of sight and therefore out of mind, making it more salient. It's also true, as i argue in my book, what we owe the future for the people who are yet to come. Sure ar generations of people who are going to follow us. They have moral standing in just the same way the people alive to day have. But we don't pay them much attention, or barly any attention at all, because they're not lownd to lobby for their interests. I think what we often do as we go - like, bad thing happening over here. Let me find another bad thing that cancels it out.
