Taming the Toddler: Overcoming Resistance and Fulfilling Your Dream

It is crucial to call ourselves out when facing resistance. Interrupting the pattern and observing the resistance helps in realizing the distractions and lies that may hinder fulfilling one's dream. By recognizing that one's work is not solely about oneself but also serves a bigger purpose for the audience and the world, it becomes easier to shift mindset from personal goals towards serving a greater cause. Sometimes, the fear of not feeling worthy or big enough for a significant message can hold one back. One should embrace the journey of personal growth and transformation to become capable of handling and sharing the message rather than shouldering the responsibility of transforming others. By sharing one's journey, including the struggles and resistance faced, and guiding others through their own path, the focus shifts from bearing the weight of others' transformation to supporting and inspiring them along their individual journeys.

So I think it's really important to call ourselves out. And some, when I was writing the book, I would actually say stuff out loud and be like, you're doing it again. Like you're, you're doing this again. You know, it's kind of like that idea with Tony Robbins, like interrupting the pattern. Like there has to be that pattern interrupt. So for me, I have to like stop and really observe the resistance. And sometimes I name it. And sometimes I'm like, you're giving this book away and you're giving all your power and you're giving away helping people and you're giving away your dream of like speaking and being on the road with, you know, all of these different groups, you're giving it a way to standing and eating another handful of nuts or another, you know, your third cup of coffee, like you don't need that, like just sit down and write. So for me, it was like taming the toddler is what I felt like every day.
Speaker 2
I picked up on something you said that really caught my attention. It's very pertinent what I was talking about to a friend today. And it's knowing that what you're doing, it's not all about you. It's for your audience for a bigger purpose is for somebody else. And you said, you know, you're giving your dream away, you're going to not be able to serve your audience. You're not going to be able to do this thing, create this product, write this book that you know in your heart of hearts is meant to help people. Can you walk us through a little bit more of, you know, how can someone get into that mindset where it is so easy to come up with these distractions, these lies because like, oh, it's just me. Oh, like I'm only maybe derailing my personal goals, but when you're creating something bigger than yourself, how do we get into the mindset of I'm failing my audience before I maybe have even ever met them? I'm failing this future person that needs to hear my work that needs to read my stuff so that they can change the world. How do we get into that shift?
Speaker 1
So there's a couple different ways to look at that because sometimes when we're like, you know, I have to get out there and I have to serve these people and I have to serve the world. Sometimes that's like we can, if you go down that path, which is also beautiful, which I do, but one thing I want to talk about what happens on that path as well as sometimes women are people, people in general, I'll just say people, I say women because it's my path. Yeah, it's your audience. It's like sometimes when we think we have this big message that we have to get out there, then we can think about the big message and not feel big enough for the message. Like we can feel like
Speaker 2
we're not worthy of the message yet. That's so big. Say that again, please. That
Speaker 1
was so. Sometimes when we think we have this big message to get out, it's we can think we're just not worthy of it or big, you know, big enough for the message to hold it. And the thing is our job is to go through the journey of not feeling big enough and become the version of the person who can handle that message and share the journey. It's not even about sharing that big message. It's not like when you attach to thinking you have this big message, it's so much expectation on yourself. You are literally putting everybody's transformation on your back and that is so heavy and so scary. Like who am I to think that I could be the person who shifts and transforms and is responsible for everybody's breakthroughs. It's not the case because at the end of the day, I am just here to go through the journey to where I want to go and share what that looks like, share the resistance that comes up, hold the space for those people and guide them to how to get through to their message.
