NOTE

The Impact of Ultra Processed Foods on Caloric Intake and Weight Gain

A study compared the effects of ultra processed diet and minimally processed diet on caloric intake and weight gain. Participants consumed as much food as they wanted. Results showed that on the ultra processed diet, participants consumed about 500 more calories per day and gained weight, while on the minimally processed diet, they ate less and spontaneously lost weight. The speed of eating and the hyper-palatability of ultra processed foods were identified as potential factors for increased consumption.
