And we're very hyper capitalistic society, so we've got this instant gratification thing that tends to privilege easy fixes over a process that may take some time or be unclear. Those with power are deeply disincentified to do the work of repentance, right? Like, what is the incentive for someone who owns a four profit jail to own the harm they caused and to have a reckoning?
