Satisfaction is ephemeral.

Dopamine is a neural modulator, not a pleasure but of anticipation of reward. It says you're going to get satisfaction if you get this thing and you'll get it forever. Mother nature basically says that new car smells get a last forever. And you always believe it, which is why we do what we, as social science call, get on the hedonic treadmill.
