The Learning Hack podcast
Contextual Considerations and Engagement in Podcast Learning
The context of use in learning podcasts is crucial as podcasts are often consumed during leisure activities, leading to a multitasking environment with varying background noises. Understanding when and how learners tune in is key to optimizing the learner experience. Research on the relationship between environmental context and attentional engagement emphasizes the importance of considering where and how the audience listens to podcasts. Audio learning enables engagement during dead times like commutes, exercise, or chores when the mind is free. Different listening environments and devices influence concentration levels. The 10-minute podcast concept was developed based on the understanding that attention wanders quickly, especially during long drives, prompting the need for shorter content to maintain engagement.
