Discussing Islamism and Islamophobia without being bigots

It is crucial to discuss the ideological roots of Islamism and jihadism, as well as the need for reform within mainstream Islam, without veering into bigotry against Muslims or disregarding their suffering or criticisms of Western foreign policy. The concept of Islamophobia can sometimes be used to obscure this discussion, with some viewing it as a term invented by fascists and used by cowards to manipulate individuals.
