Creating a walkable city means designing an environment that encourages people to walk, bike, or use micro-mobility options instead of driving. The key to achieving this is to ensure that walking is as convenient and enjoyable as driving, satisfying four basic criteria: usefulness, safety, comfort, and interest. Meeting these criteria involves urban design and city planning to provide a functional, safe, comfortable, and interesting environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
