NOTE

Understanding Lipoprotein Classes

Lipoproteins can be categorized into two classes: lipoproteins synthesized in the intestine or the liver, and those that self-create in the plasma, known as high density lipoproteins (HDLs). HDLs are distinguished from other lipoproteins like chylomicrons, very low density lipoproteins (VLDLs), intermediate density lipoproteins (IDLs), and low density lipoproteins (LDLs) by the protein that envelops them. The significant structural protein in chylomicrons, VLDLs, IDLs, and LDLs differentiates them from HDLs.
