The Divide in Colonial Societies
In colonial societies, a divide emerges between the colonized people who benefit from the colonial system and those who are excluded. This division is not based on the traditional city versus rural areas dichotomy but on who reaps the benefits of colonialism. The colonialists exploit these divisions to weaken anti-colonial forces. Instead of uniting against colonial powers, nationalist parties often alienate rural populations, widening the gap between the urban elite and rural peasants, ultimately serving the colonial structure's interests.
