The goal of Solana is to reduce block times to the physical limit of 120 milliseconds by leveraging hardware capabilities. This requires multiple block producers, more bandwidth, cores, and bigger pipes to create a highly competitive environment from the hardware level. Such a setup makes it very challenging to gain an edge over the default configuration.
