Iron Core Collapse and Supernova Explosion
When a star's core reaches the limit of iron atoms packing tightly, a core collapse occurs, but it stops due to matter's inability to occupy the same space. The collapsing force then explodes outward, creating a supernova, shedding mass and energy. The explosion is powerful, shooting planets out of their orbit with tremendous heat and light, shining brighter than galaxies for a few minutes. This explosion is dwarfed in scale only by the Big Bang.
