Evangelical churches in the U.S. are facing a decline in vitality, with many entering or already in a cycle of revitalization. The loss of members is not just due to death or apathy, but also because former churchgoers are seeking a new identity that provides purpose. We have inadvertently taught them not to live purposefully.
