Recognizing Republican Record on Civil Rights
Conservatives may avoid speaking about democratic accomplishments like civil rights in the past to avoid giving credit to Democrats. However, historically, a greater majority of Republicans supported the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act than Democrats. The Republican party has had an outstanding record on civil rights over the long history, with the Democratic Party historically linked to Jim Crow laws. Recognizing and highlighting this history is a strategic move because the Republicans are on the right side of the issue.
