Humans have not developed separate adaptations for various capabilities over the last million years. It is more plausible that human evolution involved a single set of adaptations that enabled the development of social institutions, language, theory of mind, mathematics, and other capabilities. Evolution does not simply lead to overall increased intelligence or brain size, but specific problems drive the evolution of particular capabilities.
