The proliferation of innovation does not guarantee value capture by a single firm in a lasting way. It is not a given that value can or cannot be captured. Even though Warren Buffett may have been mistaken about technology and the internet, his perspective on the uncertain outcomes of innovation and value capture is noteworthy. Despite his flawed views on airlines, Buffett's continued success and foresight are commended by many in the industry.
