Why Tesla Removed Radar from their Sensor Suite
Tesla announced that it will remove ultrasonic sensors from its cars, relying solely on vision, which might seem like a challenge. However, Elon Musk argues that additional sensors are not always an asset, as they can be a liability with costs for procurement, maintenance, and incorporation into the system. Simplifying the system is always the right solution, as it can reduce noise and entropy, and allow for a focus on the most important sensor. In the long run, this could be the best approach to improving the data engine and making progress.
