NOTE

Teaching Squats: Progression and Importance for Quality of Life

To teach someone how to squat, I wouldn't start by putting a barbell on their back. Instead, I would begin with basic movements like hinging, using their hips and knees, and balancing without any weight. Once they're comfortable, I would progress to holding a kettlebell, then using a safety bar and a box. Eventually, they can progress to a barbell squat. While some people believe everyone should do barbell squats, I think it's important to focus on movements that are relevant to everyday life, especially as we get older. Falls in the elderly can have serious consequences, with half of those over 65 who fall in the hospital never recovering.
