Finding dedicated advocates in animal advocacy
One common misconception in Southeast Asia is the belief that the main challenge in animal advocacy is finding dedicated individuals. However, in reality, the issue is more nuanced. While regions like North America and Europe may have more mature advocacy communities, the notion that advocates must be vegans is challenged. In a fellowship program, it was found that very few vegans were interested in animal advocacy, prompting a reevaluation of the fellowship criteria to ensure inclusivity and a broader range of perspectives.
