AI's potential to replace a significant number of jobs worldwide, particularly in knowledge and white-collar sectors, has raised concerns about widespread job loss. However, this displacement could also lead to a productivity boom, with a projected 7% increase in the global production of goods and services. Studies suggest that approximately 300 million jobs could be replaced by AI, with a quarter of work tasks in the US and Europe being potentially automated. The report indicates that administrative and legal professions are particularly at risk, with 46% and 44% of tasks, respectively, vulnerable to automation.
NLW looks across a range of studies, surveys and predictions to try to parse out what the real impact of AI in the workplace might be.
