LISP's Design and Mainstream Adoption

LISP was not designed to be a mainstream language but rather for super users and researchers solving complex problems. It offered great power to individual users but lacked the social aspects needed for collaborative programming. Interoperability and collaboration with libraries and other languages were challenging in LISP as it functioned more like isolated islands, hindering its widespread adoption in the programming community.
