NOTE

Consequences of Arab Invasion in 1948

The defeat of the two communities in the civil war during the British withdrawal from Palestine led to the Arab invasion of the country in May 1948. The Arab states aimed to prevent the emergence of a Jewish state as per the United Nations decision. The idea that the Zionist enterprise sought to transfer or expel Arabs from Palestine was presented out of context. The Jewish state that emerged in 1947 could have accommodated a large Arab minority if the Arabs had accepted partition peacefully. However, Arab attacks prevented this scenario, and a large Arab minority in the Jewish state did not materialize.
