Consider what the audience wants to know or what you want to know when conducting an interview./nTry to understand and empathize with the struggles and issues that the interviewees wrestle with./nAvoid asking judgemental or superficial questions and focus on topics that the interviewees care about./nAllow the interviewees to open up about sensitive topics by soft-balling the conversation./nWhen the interviewees bring up a topic of interest, take the opportunity to delve deeper into it./nBe strategic and thoughtful in your interviewing approach to get the information you want./nConsider leaving a trail of questions to steer the interviewees towards specific examples or insights./nSome journalists employ the tactic of providing false information to elicit corrections or clarifications./nBe cautious with this tactic as it may annoy interviewees, but recognize its purpose in certain cases.
