The Complexity of Curing Cancer and the Potential of AI
The diseases we've been successful at curing are those that are simple, like viral and bacterial infections. However, we've struggled with cancers because of their complexity. Cancer involves billions of uncontrolled cells with different mutations and intricate regulatory pathways. Transitioning from biology to AI, it seemed that solving this complexity may be beyond human comprehension, but possibly achievable by machines. Although human guidance is still needed, machines can process the vast amount of data, including complicated proteins and RNA sequences. Curing cancer has almost become a joke due to its immense complexity.
