Regret Rates and Gender Affirming Care Success

Regret rates have become a big part of the conversation regarding trans health care, reflecting historical cis discomfort in providing what trans individuals need. Gender affirming care in adults is highly successful, with regret rates lower than those for nose jobs and knee replacements. Surveys indicate that the majority of trans individuals feel better after receiving this care, with less than 1% strongly regretting it. Studies show that only 3% of individuals are dissatisfied after transitioning. A systematic review of 55 studies further supports the success of gender affirming care in adults.
