Combat search and rescue (CSAR) is an elite form of search and rescue, primarily conducted by the Americans, Dutch, and Brits within NATO./nCSAR operations are carried out in hostile environments and involve various components like fighter pilots, helicopters, suppression of enemy air defense, fast air, tankers, airborne early warning, and para jumpers (PJs)./nThe focus of attention is often on PJs and helicopters, but CSAR is a collaborative effort involving a whole team./nA tour of a CSAR facility in Kuwait revealed the extensive and massive nature of these operations.
