Fostering Interoperability in Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in China has been a concerted effort between the government and private companies like Li Auto, BYD, NIO, and Huawei. Despite a dense network of charging stations, there are still issues with charging infrastructure, especially during busy holiday seasons. China has made efforts to install chargers in locations similar to gas stations and along highways. However, interoperability remains a challenge, as different charging networks require separate apps and sign-ups, similar to the situation in North America and Europe with Tesla, EVgo, and Electrify America networks.
