NOTE

Avoiding dangers of redemptive movement hermeneutics - slavery and egalitarianism equating

There are three potential dangers to avoid when using a redemptive movement hermeneutic approach to reading Scripture. The first danger is throwing it out altogether, which is unwise because it has been used throughout church history. The second danger is ignoring it, as seen in churches that justified slavery based on a static biblical interpretation. Jesus himself used this approach when discussing marriage and divorce. However, it is misleading to equate the trajectories of women and the enslaved, as they are not the same. Using Scripture as a weapon goes against its purpose. While they share a biblical trajectory generally, they should not be exactly equated.
