Literal vs. Implied Language in Communication

Communication can be categorized as literal or implied. Literal speakers express their needs directly, while implied speakers use shadow sentences to hint at their desires, expecting others to understand without explicit communication. Implied language often leads to unmet expectations, tension, and resentment in relationships. It hinders open and honest communication, creating a cycle of passive-aggression and making it difficult for individuals to be vulnerable. This form of communication can be toxic as it prevents clear expression of needs and feedback, fostering misinterpretation and breeding unspoken resentments.
