The Relationship Between Genetic Risk Factors, Environment, and Cancer
All cancers arise from damage to the respiration due to interactions between genetic risk factors and the environment. There are germline mutations present at birth and somatic mutations influenced by the environment. Even in healthy individuals, genetics in their tissue nucleus may contain cancer-causing driver mutations, without actually developing cancer. The notion of cancer being solely a genetic disease is not adequately addressed in research.
