Culture is Observational, Not Aspirational

Culture within a company is fundamentally shaped by the behaviors and actions of its founders and senior executives, rather than by aspirational goals or brainstorming sessions. It is a reflection of how leaders interact and operate daily, and employees observe and model their behavior accordingly. This means that a company's proclaimed culture must align with actual practices; any disparity will undermine authenticity. The concept of culture is not about lofty ideals or printed posters, but rather about genuine actions and relationships. If leadership embodies a familial atmosphere, then fostering that culture is appropriate. Conversely, trying to impose a culture that contradicts actual behaviors is ineffective. Thus, the essence of company culture emerges from observation, not aspiration.
