The CEO gathered the team and asked if they wanted to be a good startup or a great startup. The team eagerly responded that they wanted to be great. The CEO then encouraged them to come up with ideas on how to achieve greatness. One of the suggestions was to put in more hours, and since it was their own idea, they felt committed to it. This tactic shifted their focus from criticizing the CEO's suggestions to providing their own ideas. When the CEO later implemented their suggestions, they found it difficult to refuse because they had suggested it themselves.
