Exploring Internal States, Models, and Dynamics in Active Inference

Internal states embody the desirable model of the world and raise questions about whether an organism is a model or has a model, drawing on cybernetics and the good regulator theorem. The Free Energy Principle considers the internal states as entailing a generative model, which is instantiated in the organism's physics and dynamics. It's explained that the generative model is technically a probability distribution with sufficient statistics existing in a physical sense, associated with the physical internal states.
